What is your approach to multi-site leadership?

There are several models for leading and pastoring a multi-site church. The most well-known version of multi-site is the video teaching with campus pastor model. Another common model for churches with 2 or 3 sites is a traveling lead teacher/pastor who visits each campus and works with a blend of campus pastors to lead the church. This model can work well with 2 or 3 sites but becomes difficult to sustain beyond 3 sites. A model that is less common but very effective is the distributed in-person teaching and leadership model. MultipliCity provides training in this approach.

What is a Restart?

It’s called different things by different groups: replant, resurrection or adoption.  We call it simply: Restart. Restart happens when a healthy, growing church or church planter takes leadership responsibility for a struggling or declining church in order to restore the people and Gospel mission of that local church.  Restarts often also begin or expand a church’s use of multi-site church strategy.

If done well, Restart can become a powerful tool to redeem kingdom space, kingdom people and kingdom resources in a way that reflects the Gospel.  Across the United States there are thousands of church buildings with small, aging congregations in need of vision, leadership and passion but bridging the gap between older, highly-invested church leadership boards and younger church pastors and planters is a sensitive process
